Malaysia Airlines,under the official name Malaysian Airline System Berhad is an airline company owned by the governmet that includes besides the flights all over the world, a maintainance,repair and overhaul of the flying machines ( MRO).It was founded in 1947 as Malaysian Airwaves and changed its name into Malaysian Airline System in 1972.
The flights operated by the Malaysian Airlines are transpacific,from Kuala Lumpur to Los Angeles,via Taipei,but also flights all over East And South East Asia,Middleast and the route between Europe and Australia also known as the Kangaroo Route.Firefly and MASwings are two additional flight companies to the Malaysian Airlines.The home airporot from where Firefly operates flights is Penang International Airport and the home airport for MASwings is Borneo.The flights of the original Malaysian Airlines are operated from the home airport base,called Kuala Lumpur International Airport and sometimes from another base,Kota Kinabalu.In 2006 the airline company had some financial problems,but this didn’t affected than only one flight,a transatlantic,that had the Kuala Lumpur Newark route,via Stockholm and stopped operating it in October 2009.Malaysian Airlines was declared to be number two,with an 88 score on Aviation Week’s Top Performing Companies.It also won a lot of international awards like the 5 stars distinction given by Skytrax,a distinction that it has only been given to five more companies,for the safety if provides during the flights,the efficience of the staff and the professional services.The safety of the Malaysian Airlines was accredited with IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) by the International Air Transport Association.
Malaysian Airlines is the only company in the world famous for the for the flight operated in 1997.It was declared to be the longest non-comercial flight in the world,with a Boeing 777-200ER that flew without a stop from Seattle to Kuala Lumpur,along the European and African continents setting a new record for the “Great Circle Distance Without Landing” section.Malaysia Airlines has a subsidier for charter flights too,called MASCharter and does a great job in the merger&acquisition (M&A) domain.The Manchester United Asian Tour chose Malaysia Airlines to be their official airline because of the safety and comfort it offers.The premium classes passengers can check-in at the airport lounge,where they can wait for their flight at the bar or enjoy the catering services and taking their children to the special playgrounds or centers of chid-care.There are only 14 such airport lounges in the world and the Malaysian Airlines offers to passengers the services of one of them.
